Leras was a human and the original holder of the Shard Preservation.
He was short man with black hair, and a prominent nose.[1]
He became the Shard Preservation through unknown means. He orchestrated the downfall of Ruin on Scadrial by an elaborate plot to sacrifice himself (since holding Preservation meant he was unable to destroy) and let Vin take the Shard. She then killed herself and Ati, letting Sazed pick up both Shards to become Harmony.
