The Voidbringers were cast back into the Tranquiline Halls. The Heralds followed to force them out of heaven as well, and Roshar’s Heraldic Epochs ended. Mankind entered the Era of Solitude. The modern era.

The Era of Solitude is the name given to the four thousand year period following the Heraldic Epochs.[1]

Silver Kingdoms[edit]

The Silver Kingdoms existed from some time prior to Aharietiam[1] until likely just after the Day of Recreance.[2] The Knights Radiant supported a unified kingdom across the land connecting everyone via Urithiru, with Alethela being the center of protection for all of the Kingdoms.[3] After the fall of the Knights, and with Urithiru abandoned (leaving each kingdom isolated) they would no longer be able to function as they had.[1]

Beginning[edit]

The Era of Solitude began after the Last Desolation known as Aharietiam.[1] After being told that the Voidbringers had been defeated by the remaining Heralds, mankind began rebuilding for the first time in years.[4]

Events of the Era of Solitude[edit]

  • Aharietiam - Began the Era of Solitude.[1]
  • The False Desolation - War with Singers not led by the Fused.[5][6]
  • The Day of Recreance - Knights Radiant broke oaths and abandoned Shards.[7]
  • The Collapse of the Silver Kingdoms - While unknown when the Silver Kingdoms fell, without the Knights Radiant the system would have broken down by this point.[1]
  • The Death of Honor - Honor was killed and the power he held was Splintered by Odium.
  • Dynastic Collapse in Bayala - A dynasty collapses in Bayala due to the influence of Ashertmarn in 480
  • The Hierocracy - Classical Vorinism attempted to control the world, much of history was sanitized during this time.[8]
  • The Sunmaker Conquests - Sadees the Sunmaker overthrew the Hierocracy and reunited Alethkar, before attempting to conquer the world, leaving a deep effect upon many different countries.
  • The Scouring of Aimia - Aimia suffered a cataclysm of some kind.[9]
  • Emuli Lurnip Famine - Emul goes through a devastating Lurnip famine.
  • Reunification of Alethkar - The reunification of Aelthkar under the Kholin Banner
  • The Eighty's War - A war between Tukar and Emul over control of Sesemalex Dar broke out in 1167, with Tukar being led by the Herald Ishar
  • The Assassination of Gavilar Kholin - Gavilar Kholin, the king of Alethkar, was assassinated by the Listeners during the treaty celebration on Tanat 1167.[10]
  • The War of Reckoning - A war between the Alethi and the Listeners following the assassination of Gavilar Kholin, which led up to the True Desolation.
  • The True Desolation - the coming of the Everstorm ended the Era of Solitude.

The End[edit]

The Era of Solitude lasted up until the return of the Fused and Odium. This takes place the day the Listeners created the Everstorm the Beginning of the True Desolation.

Time Keeping[edit]

The current Vorin calendar in the Era of Solitude did not begin at the end of Aharietiam, but a date approximately three thousand years afterward. This date that starts the calendar takes place some time after the Day of Recreance but before the Hierocracy.[11]
