Greetings[edit]

Hi Firesong! Thanks for all the work you've been putting in on The Lost Metal! To hopefully alleviate some confusions for you, I wanted to let you know that edits like the one you reverted on MeLaan's page (thank you for that!), where someone almost inexplicably removes things, can often be the result of someone editing with the Time Machine active. They're looking at old versions of pages to avoid spoilers and then when they make an edit, the site loads that old version of the page and they accidentally revert all the intervening changes. It's a weird little quirk of how the system works. Also, as a minor note, the {{spoilers}} and {{update}} tags should be placed after the infobox, so that they don't push everything else on the page down. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions—we also have a Discord server for Coppermind editors where most of our coordination and discussion happens these days, which you're welcome to join—and happy editing!

Howdy![edit]

Hey Firesong,

You've been tearing it up on here lately! Bravo!. Seriously, I see your username everywhere I go and its awesome. I am working on a few projects and I noticed that you had left a summary on 'The Village'. If you don't mind, I'd like to go ahead and take that page. If you do, please let me know so I can remove my edits or whatnot.

Thanks again for the awesome work!

-LeafyGeans

Well, if you want to do it yourself, no need to ask my permission, go on ahead.

Hoid Page[edit]

Hi Firesong,

I wanted to reach out because I saw you've been editing the Hoid page. That is a long term project of mine that I have been (far) too slow working on, but I didn't want you to be unnecessarily duplicating work. I have a very in depth Stormlight summary for Hoid and some other changes that I've actually been trying to trim down. It's located here if you want to take a look. I hope that this does not come across as an admonishment, I really appreciate the work you've been contributing and it's really on me that I haven't gotten this stuff on the page yet. If you could hold off on making any major changes until after the Christmas holiday or so, I would appreciate it. I should have my changes up by then. Happy to chat about it further if you've got any questions. Thanks again for all your work!

Alrighty, I'll restrain myself. Just try not to completely replace my relationships section. But go ahead with the history, I was just making a short skeleton for the purposes of just making sure we had *something* on his RoW history, the emptiness was driving me crazy. I actually looked at your draft, and it makes more sense how you are doing it then we have been, as we try in-world terminology for history in every other page, just not Hoid. So good on you for working on fixing that. -- Firesong (talk) 15:48, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
I am not intending on completely replacing the relationships section, but I do have thoughts on it, and we may have to work together a bit, because I am not sure all of these are necessary to exist on the page, or that some of them couldn't be combined into larger subsections instead of a bunch of three line sections. --Windrunner (talk) 05:03, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
Well, what I meant by mine is mostly the parts on Shai, Sazed, Yomen and Ostin, Wayne, and Wax. --Firesong (talk)

Armal Harms?[edit]

Hey Firesong,

First just want to say thanks so much for your help throughout the site. :)

I'm just writing as to inquire about Armal Harms, I saw it was red linked and was going to create a page for it but couldn't find any citations for them on the House Harms page. Then checking through the history it seems you added them recently to the page, by any chance do you remember what chapter or book he is mentioned?--Debarra (talk) 23:45, 19 December 2022 (UTC)

Ah, just forgot to fix that. Coppermind is just listing her as Armal as she married and most likely doesn't go by Harms anymore. She was briefly mentioned in Alloy of Law, and was one of the members of the Community in TLM. Helped Marasi a lot and contributed to killing Gave Entrone. Thanks for pointing that out. --Firesong (talk) 23:53, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
Oh yeah! I had totally forgotten they were a Harms, Doh! Thank you so much for the help. :)--Debarra (talk) 23:58, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
No problem! --Firesong (talk) 23:59, 19 December 2022 (UTC)

Wayne's Surname[edit]

Hi Firesong! I just wanted to give an explanation of why I removed your suggestion to change the name of Wayne's page from Wayne to Wayne Terrisborn, and why I changed the first sentence of his page to simply refer to him as "Wayne". The main reason is that "Terrisborn" isn't actually his surname, but is instead a placeholder name used by Call and Son and Daughters Accounting and Estate. The other Keepers and I agreed that it'd be better to just go with Wayne for the name of his article, and to just put a short explanation on his page about his placeholder surname.

Lilting Abyss[edit]

Hey. I agree with you that the Lilting Abyss is probably underwater given how it's used in the book. I only put probably because it would be like if someone said "the Atlantic is deeper than the Grand Canyon" or "Mount Everest could fit in the Mariana Trench" or something. So I was wondering if it'd be okay with you if I changed it back. If it's not I understand.

Thanks so much for all your hard work!

Tress Cup Claims[edit]

Hey Firesong, small request. You (and some others) have a couple of things claimed on the "Tress Cup" spreadsheet, and we're asking people to do just one at a time. We're getting down to a point where there's only a handful left, so I want to make sure things are open unless someone is more or less actively working on it. Would you mind removing your name from all but one at a time? I'm going to go back through later tonight and reassign things myself if needed, but I wanted to give you a chance to pick whichever one you'd like to work on first (or else go ahead and add any work that you have done to the pages).--Jofwu (talk) 18:33, 13 January 2023 (UTC)

I apologize, but many have already been finished. Midnight Sea, Crimson Sea, Rose Sea, Silver, Sprouter, Kings Mask, Irali, AonDor, and Lumar are all essenially finished, in my opinion. Currently I am just working on Fort and finishing up the small amount needed for Emerald Sea, which I feel is almost finished. My return to Lumar earlier today was due to me noticing something that was missing that I didn't notice on the 11th, I believe it is essentially finished now. --Firesong (talk) 19:18, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
No worries, I figured that might be the case. :) Thanks! --Jofwu (talk) 16:11, 15 January 2023 (UTC)

Ashyn[edit]

Hey, I put in that it took about 1500 years after The Shattering for Ashyn to be destroyed. This is calculated from TWoK's Prelude and the current idea for how long ago The Shattering was. I tried to source this, but I don't exactly know how to.

Not Firesong, but I think that that kind of reasoning would go in a footnote. --ParshendiOfRhuidean (talk) 20:58, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, but I still think that I at least need to source what I'm using to calculate the time, especially since the time of The Shattering comes from a WoB.
When you want to reference a wob, say ((wob ref|number)), and that number comes from the link to the wob in question. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/145/#e16060, so this would be ((wob ref|16060)), except make the parenthesis into curly brackets. Firesong (talk) 21:10, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

Cosmere Page References[edit]

Hey Firesong! Wanted to reach out to respond to your comment in this edit some. With regard to the TLM and MSH citations on interplanetary trade, the string of references you placed those in are all specifically about the "trade of mundane objects" part of the sentence and I had removed them because I couldn't find anything in those chapters that specifically supported that statement. I realize now you were just using them as citations about interplanetary trade in general, so I've moved them to be a bit earlier in the sentence; my apologies for the miscommunication.

With regard to the SotD and Tress citations on Physical Realm FTL, my concern is that, while they're certainly indicative of that being developed by the time of those books, they're not entirely on point for the exact statement the page makes (that "the primary other method available [i.e., other than trekking through the Cognitive] is faster-than-light travel through space in the Physical Realm"). Specifically, I'm not sure those book references really support Physical Realm FTL being the "primary other method available" as opposed to just another option or indeed whether those ships are definitely traveling through the Physical Realm (see this WoB, where Brandon mentions putting spaceships in the Cognitive Realm and doing FTL that way). Thinking about it further, I'm inclined to keep the SotD citation, especially since one of the WoBs there mentions the Ones Above and makes clear they are doing Physical Realm FTL, but the Tress one doesn't seem to add much to me.

On a general note, books are, of course, the only final canon, but WoBs are not a monolith and some are more reliable/less likely to change than others; for example, I'd consider WoBs about the long-term arc of the cosmere, including the space age and the development of FTL, to be pretty solid. To me at least, a reliable and directly on point WoB is a better citation than book references that offer more indirect support for a statement.

Yumi Investiure[edit]

Hi there.

I saw your edit of my addition to Yumi's Abilities. I changed your re-edit slightly as I felt that Design stating she's more heavily Invested than a Returned and is actually on par with Elantrians is a relevant point for people trying to understand her level. I'm also relatively new to editing Wikipedia so I apologize for my lack of form. If there's a better way to discuss this further please let me know.

Thanks, — Preceding unsigned comment added by User:65.51.23.110 08:34, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

About "Translation" in "True Desolation" page[edit]

Hello. I saw that you added section with name Translations in page with name True Desolation. There was [discussion] and there was mentioned that there was a Template:Interlang which is exactly from translations of terminology. I will add your translations in table formatted according to the template.

Do you mind? Dl8717 (talk) 06:24, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
