The Misted Mountains are a mountain range located on the eastern border of Shinovar on Roshar.[1][2]

Geography

The Misted Mountains border several nations during the Era of Solitude, including Shinovar, Alm, Yezier, Desh, Babatharnam, Rira, and Iri.[1]

They serve as a windbreak for the whole nation of Shinovar, weakening the highstorms enough to protect the country and its inhabitants from the destructive power of the storms.[2] Due to this effect, the flora and fauna of Shinovar are not defined by surviving the highstorms, so they are vastly different from the rest of Roshar.

Trivia

  • The Misted Mountains, much like Robert Jordan's Mountains of Mist, are a homage to J. R. R. Tolkien's Misty Mountains.[3]
