Sigzil is an Azish member of Bridge Four on Roshar.

Appearance and Personality

His skin is dark brown and his hair black, and he wears no beard. He has a Bridge Four tattoo on his forehead.

History

Sigzil was the first person in his family in generations to have a real chance at passing the governmental service tests in Azir. He is dismissive towards the idea that even as a commoner could pass the test thinking that a son of a laborer had little time to study given that he is not a civil servant in Azir it seems this is why he did not pass his tests. [1]

Sometime after failing he met Hoid who took him as an apprentice Worldsinger they traveled to many places on Roshar eventually reaching the shattered plains. Sigzil tried to kill a man and thought himself successful. It is implied that his actions were what led him to become a Bridgeman. [2]

He started off rather abrasive and shy, especially about his knowledge as a Worldsinger,[3] but began to tell stories and teach others about far off places like Marabethia,[2] Yulay,[4] and Babatharnam.[3]

He was promoted to lieutenant by Kaladin and appointed as clerk since he is the only member of Bridge Four who can read glyphs.[5][6]

Sigzil performed experiments using Kaladin as the primary subject to measure and document the extents of his Windrunner abilities.[7]

Sigzil was one of the first bridgemen to draw in stormlight and become one of Kaladins Squires.

He was formerly an apprentice of Hoid who declared him a full Worldsinger to Kaladin before leaving the war camps in Way of Kings. When Kaladin tried to talk about Hoid, Sigzil refused, so the relationship of the two obviously was not without stress.

He was present along with Teft when Sadeas' body was found.[8] Later he approached Kaladin about many administrative issues the crew was facing attempting to convey and idea of responsibility though one of Hoid's story but failing. He brought up problems such as who they ,as Windrunners, serve[1]

Later he organized experiments on the effect the gratification surge on all of bridge four and coached other bridgemen on drawing in stormlight. [9] [10]

Personality and Relationships

Despite being incredibly organized and studios, Sigzil thinks less of himself for failing the service exams in Azir but is content that it happens as it lead him to bridge four. He has a judgmental streak , specifically around disorderly people, but is aware of it having been criticized for it by both Kaladin and Hoid and tries to work on it.[1]

Sigzil takes after Hoid's quick wit but tries to restrain himself from doing so.[1] He is not content being the clerk of bridge four and wishes to be the first into the sky not huddled over some ledger

Sigzil prefers clear relationship lines thinking commander and a clerk not the degree of friendship he has with both his captain and master.

Despite his demenour he is encouraging and optimistic to friends [10]

Powers and Abilities

Sigzil has been trained with the spear and spearmen tactics and was at least aware of military tactics before becoming a bridgeman, he is considers proficient enough to both train spearmen and lead squads as a part of bridge four.

He has sworn alteast the first oath of the knights radiant and is a squire of the Windrunners as such he has access to stormlight healing aswell as the surges of Gravitation and Adhesion
