Lopen's mother is a Herdazian woman. Her name is not currently known. At some point during the War of Reckoning she and her family moved to Little Herdaz, a section of Highprince Sebarial's warcamp on the Shattered Plains.[1] They now live in Urithiru along with many of the inhabitants of the former warcamps.[2]
She has a thick Alethi accent, and could be extremely forceful in personality. When a wounded King Elhokar was recovering in Little Herdaz, Lopen's mother forced the king to eat, despite him not feeling well, because he looked extremely pale. She did not want Elhokar found when he was not properly fed.[1]
Lopen's mother appears to be influential among her relatives. Upon her urging, one of Lopen's cousins, Punio, decided to join Bridge Four.[1]
She encouraged Lopen's self-deprecating jokes back when he was still missing his left arm, telling him to laugh before others could laugh at him.[3]
