Brightness Velat is an Alethi lighteyes and scholar.[1]
History
Brightness Velat was likely one of Brightlady Navani Kholin's scholars,[2][3] likely specializing in cartography.[1][4] She accompanied Brightlady Shallan Davar when Highprince Dalinar Kholin's army escorted her out onto the Shattered Plains so Shallan could observe a chasmfiend chrysalis.[4] Shallan borrowed Velat's maps, having none of her own.
Brightness Velat was also a member of the Alethi expedition to Narak.[1] Velat, along with Inadara and the ardent Isasik Shulin, worked with Shallan to map the inner portion of the Shattered Plains and determine the location of Stormseat and its Oathgate. After Pattern insulted Lady Inadara, she went to speak to Velat and Isasik about their impressions of Shallan's map.
