Tyn is a con artist and associate of the Ghostbloods.[2] She was the head of the guards for Macob's caravan.[3]
Appearance and Personality
She is lighteyed and of medium height with a wiry build.[4] Her hair is black and at least shoulder-length.[5] She wore trousers and a long coat, of good leather, that almost looked like a dress, buckled at the waist. She wore a tan glove over her safehand, and spoke Alethi without an accent. [4] She ate the food she likes weather its men or women’s food. [2]
History
Tyn was raised in Tu Bayla by parents who worked as interpreters.[2]
Macob’s caravan
Tyn’s team was assigned to kill Jasnah while on the ship to the Shattered Planes. Due to Shallan’s burning of the ship, they didn’t survive and never came back for her. [5] Tyn had found herself without spheres and came to Macob’s caravan to find a safe way into the Shattered Planes. She exaggerated her experience and became the head of the guards for the caravan. [2] During their travel, they were assaulted by bandits. It was Shallan´s “soldiers” who assisted them and avoided total loss. In return, Shallan asked for their company on their way back to the Shattered Planes. [3] It was during this time that she took Shallan Davar as a con artist apprentice.[2]
Tyn’s death
She was also the one who tried to assassinate Jasnah Kholin on behalf of the Ghostbloods. When she found out that Shallan was Jasnah's ward, she also tried to kill Shallan, but Shallan fought back and summoned her Blade and killed Tyn.[6]
Attributes and Abilities
Tyn doen’t have any magical abilities nor has any particular strength. She is resourceful and a good con artist.[2] “The art of the con”, in Tyn’s words is “The grand act of pretending to be someone you aren’t, then running off with the goods.” . [2]
Relationships
Shallan
During [Shallan]]´s time with Macob’s caravan, Tyn invited her to dine with her, she confessed on having a spanreed which she had connected to Tashikk where she had inquired about her; with the information she decided Sallan was a con artist and decided to take her as apprentice under the promise of the “goods” she thought Shallan wanted. [2] Tyn showed Shallan accents, passing for lower class people and foreigners. [5] It was her “teaching” that caused Shallan’s first encounter with Kaladin to go so bad as she tried to bully him pretending to be a Horneater royal. [5] Shallan remembers killing Tyn at multiple times. [7][8] She noted many of the bar patrons in the Breakaway had the confidences of Tyn.[9]
