Spren are a type of spirit found commonly on Roshar.

They come in many different varieties each associated with and named for their own phenomenon. They will always swarm around whatever attracts them. The causal link between spren and their associated phenomenon is poorly understood on Roshar, as it is widely believed that rotspren, attracted to a wound, actively cause an infection, whereas flamespren are held to be only attracted to fire.
