This article's title is uncanonical and a fan created one, because an official term or name has not been made yet.

This Blade would continue after Adolin died. He didn’t own it. He was borrowing it for a time.

—Words of Radiance[1]

Adolin's Shardblade is a Shardblade bonded to Adolin Kholin whose name is currently unknown.

Appearance

Adolin in Shardplate holding his Shardblade.

The blade itself is shaped like a larger version of a standard longsword and bears some resemblance to the two the enormous two handed broadswords traditionally wielded by Horneaters. The cutting edge is smooth and sinuous, like an eel, while the back has ridges of crystal.[2]. When summoned, the mist it forms from is in the shape of vines.[3]

History

The shardblade was once the spren of an Edgedancer.[3]

At some point before the beginning of the story Adolin dueled a lighteyes named Tinalar. Against everyone's expectations he won the duel and secured the blade as his own. He never named it, believing it had a name of it's own and that it would be pretentious to change it. Adolin often speaks to the shardblade and imagines that it listens to him. He believes that something that feels like an extension of the soul itself is impossible to wield without feeling as though it too is alive.[2]

The shardblade was one of the shards placed on the line in Adolin and Dalinar's dueling campaign to disarm the Shardbearers of the Highprinces[4]. The most important duel of these duels being the one against Relis, Elit, Abrobadar and Jakamav[5][6]. It was also present at many battles, including the Battle of the Tower[7][8] and the Battle of Narak[9][10][11][12].
