Elthebar is a stormwarden on Roshar.[1]

History

Initially, Highprince Dalinar Kholin refused the aid of stormwardens, such as Elthebar, but later he accepted them due to the military advantage they offered.[1] Though it was unlikely for stormwardens to be wrong about coming highstorms, Elthebar didn't predict one that occurred in 1173 while Dalinar and Renarin were riding back from a private conversation with King Elhokar Kholin at the Pinnacle.[2] Dalinar and Renarin hardly got to Dalinar's warcamp before the storm broke free and were forced to take shelter in a barrack. Dalinar was struck by another vision in front of all his men. Elthebar also often tried to predict the weather for Dalinar, but his promises were always filled with caveats.

In Urithiru he was considered head of the stormwardens, and was present during the first meeting of the scholars which Renarin also joined. He interrupted a report by Kalami and insulted Teshav's intelligence for questioning him. Shallan considered him rude.[3] He calculated the timing of the storm in which Dalinar took Venli into the visions with Nohadon.[4]
