Template:Event info The Battle of the Tower was an engagement between the Parshendi and the combined armies of the highprinces Dalinar and Torol Sadeas which occurred on the Tower.[1][2][3][4]

Dalinar convinced Sadeas to team up for a joint plateau assault. After spotting a chrysalis on the Tower Plateau Sadeas and Dalinar agreed that Sadeas' forces led into the battle and Dalinar followed with a few lent bridges from Sadeas, because Dalinar refused to use bridgemen on the initial assault, and with his own chull-drawn bridges he would have been too slow.[5] Once there, Sadeas and Dalinar's armies attacked the Parshendi from different adjacent plateaus.[1]

Sadeas then abandoned Dalinar, pulling his army out of the battle.[1][2] Dalinar was beaten by Eshonai, the Parshendi Shardbearer.[4] Kaladin and Bridge Four stayed behind Sadeas' army for their own reasons but then decided to help Dalinar and his surviving men retreat.[3] Kaladin incapacitated the Parshendi Shardbearer, giving Dalinar the opportunity to retreat too.[4]

After returning to the warcamps, Dalinar traded his Shardblade Oathbringer for all of Sadeas' bridge crews. He gave Kaladin the lead, and assigned Bridge Four as a his personal guard. Then he convinced Elhokar to name him Highprince of War.[6]
