Tarn, referred to as "Old Tarn" by Jost, is a farmer who lives in Hearthstone. After finding a patch of polyps that were not growing correctly, he gives Jost, Jest, Mord, Tift, Naget, Khav, and other unnamed young workers in Hearthstone the day off from worming the fields so that he can decide out whether or not to replant that area.[1]
