Mara is Lirin's apprentice in Hearthstone.

When Kaladin returns to Hearthstone after the first Everstorm, Mara has been an apprentice surgeon for a few years.

Lirin feels that she is not yet ready to be a surgeon, as he implies Mara would not be able to take over for him if he left.
