Yezriar was the heir to the local Highprince who Dalinar kills early in Gavalar's unification war.[1]
Unification war
Yezriar was the Crown prince of his local Highprince. During the war his High prince opposed Gavilar's Control culminating in a final battle that killed both the Highprince and Yezriar. During his battle with Dalinar Yezriar managed to break Dalinar's nose. Yezriar or one of his Soldiers left a single archer of immense skill to try and kill Dalinar or presumably any of the main enemy lighteyes he could find.
