Highprince Thanadal is a highprince of Alethkar.[2] Thanadal princedom is in central Alethkar.[3]

Thanadal refused to discuss the issue of a joint plateau assault with Dalinar, sending a messenger to Dalinar declining the possibility without even meeting him in person. Thanadal's colours are red and brown.[4] Thanadal's army had one full Shardbearer, Brightlord Resi, who carries a set of Shards passed down the royal line and usually given to a warrior who was also given the title of the Royal Defender. His army also contains three men who had either Shardplate or Shardblade, Thanadal himself having neither.[5]

After the Battle of Narak

Since the Battle of Narak, and the following settling of the tower city of Urithiru, most of the Alethi highprinces have moved across the Shattered Plains with their war camps in tow. In leaving the Alethi highprinces abandoned the craters they occupied as well as surrounding land and resources; leaving them for the few highprinces, that decided not the make for Urithiru, to take for themselves. Highprince Thanadal is one of the highprinces that decided to stay behind in what were the war camps and has reportedly built himself a virtual kingdom of his own [6] in the void other highprinces left behind. The political implications of Thanadal's refusal to join in Urithiru and subsequent rising power is uncertain still. However, Highprince of Commerce Sebarial worries over Thanadals continued seizure of Alethi resources on the Shattered Plains[6] indicating a growing rift and potential emancipation of Thanadal's princedoms.
