Dahn was a ranking system in which the lower number you are, the more highly you are ranked (So Second Dahns are more highly ranked than Third Dahn).^{[citation needed]} Only lighteyes belonged to any sort of dahn, darkeyes were classed in a lower system altogether called nahn. However Darkeyes could be promoted to the equivalent of a Dahn rank, for example Kaladin was eventually promoted to the equivalent of a Lighteyes of the Fourth Dahn.
