Nearer the Flame was a book on Roshar.
Shallan requested a copy of it from a bookmerchant to startle him into realizing that she needed serious books, not the fluffy romances he was peddling to her. Nearer the Flame is considered a classic, and the plot consists of a man descending into insanity after watching his children starve.[1]
