They served as a windbreak for the whole nation, weakening the highstorms enough to protect the country and its inhabitants from the destructive power of the storms.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; refs with no name must have content Due to this effect, the flora and fauna of Shinovar were not defined by surviving the highstorms, so they were vastly different from the rest of Roshar.
