Gavilar gives the black sphere to Eshonai the day of his assassination and tells her to give it to the Five.[1]
The black sphere is given to Szeth by Gavilar just before his death.[2]
The sphere is small, crystalline, and tied to a chain. It glows with Voidlight, although it is completely dark.[2] Gavilar says that Szeth must take it so that the Parshendi do not get hold of it.[citation needed] The light is different from Stormlight and is related to a different shard.[3]
Szeth hid the sphere in Jah Keved.[4]
