In general he was considered slow-witted or even dull. Actually, Taravangian once went to go visit the Nightwatcher and received a curse and boon from the Old Magic. Now his IQ fluctuates from day to day, sometimes making him idiotic and sometimes a genius. He makes math tests for himself the night before, and if he can't achieve a certain score in the morning his guards have orders to keep him away from important decisions for that day.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; refs with no name must have content

Secret activity

Taravangian runs a secret hospital hidden in the King's palace. It was built in a large, long room with wide railings on the sides. The room was filled with hundreds of beds, and the people in those beds were slowly killed in the way of draining the blood out of them.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; refs with no name must have content Taravangian did this because some of the dying spoke in the seconds before their death some cryptic sentences.[1] In those quotes, Taravangian saw some information about the True Desolation. So in order to prepare for it, he began collecting the quotes. The people who collected these quotes were called the Silent Gatherers.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; refs with no name must have content

Taravangian employed SzethCite error: Invalid <ref> tag; refs with no name must have content to kill many of the world leaders, including Hanavanar, the king of Jah Keved. Szeth was also ordered to kill Dalinar Kholin at the end of The Way of Kings. The murders were ordered in the purpose of bringing stability to the world. Taravangian says that stability will be needed when the True Desolation comes.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; refs with no name must have content
