The markel tree is a type of plant on Roshar.[1] It can be found in northwestern Alethkar.[1]
It grows up to sixteen feet high and has large, clam-shaped leaves that can open and close.[2] It has bark coated in stone and branches as "thick as a man's leg".[1] Snarlbrush grows in dense thickets around markel trees.[1]
