The black sphere is given to Szeth by Gavilar just before his death.[1]

The sphere is small, crystalline, and completely dark. It glows with a black light.[1] The light is different from Stormlight and is related to a different shard.[2]

Szeth hid the sphere in Jah Keved.[3]
