Scooch is a sand fox owned by Kenton's family in Lossand on Taldain.[1] Little is known about sand foxes, but they are presumably a relatively small species of domesticated sandling.
Scooch served as a guard fox, but she was never called into action and spent most of her time napping and eating table scraps, eventually becoming fat and lazy.[1][2] At some point in Kenton's youth, an a'keldar (sand wolf) wandered into the city and tore Scooch apart in an alley, where Kenton later found her corpse.[1]
Kenton recalls Scooch's death when the Diem is attacked by Kerztians, comparing the complacency of the sand masters to that of his former pet.[2]
