Endowment is one of the sixteen Shards of Adonalsium. The Shard's Vessel is Edgli.[1] She is located on Nalthis and is the only Shard present on that world.[2]

Intent

Associated Magic

Endowment's magic system is Awakening, which matches its intent: Breath can be gifted (endowed) to others, and also used to impart "life" to inanimate objects.

Endowment is responsible for the Returned.[3] A Splinter of Endowment known as a divine Breath is what resurrects the Returned and grants them their abilities.[4]

Letters to Hoid

Endowment wrote the first Oathbringer letter to Hoid. She believes that Rayse is not a threat and is unsympathetic to the deaths of Aona and Skai, as they had broken their pact.

Trivia

  • She is fine with her Breath being used to feed the Returned.[5]

The Tears of Edgli

The Tears of Edgli, a flower in Hallandren, are likely related to Endowment. It is thought that perhaps the Tears are Endowment's Physical aspect, as atium is to Ruin or lerasium is to Preservation, but this has been consistently RAFO'd.[citation needed]
