ADD partial here later, perhaps. Maybe when I move this to Coup of Urteau. 3rd cache in Urteau [1] Urteau is mentioned by name in Chs 5, 12, 14, 16, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 35, 38, 41, 46, 48, 49, 51, 52, 53, 56, 58, 59, 62, 63, 64, 69, 70, Epilogue. 5: cache talk. 12: capture caches, take Urteau not by force. Should Beldre be a participant? The Coup of Urteau was one of the major events on Scadrial between the end of the Final Empire and Sazed's ascension.

Quellion rules in Urteau since Straff Venture left to besiege Luthadel. Spook, Sazed and Breeze try to reason with Quellion, but decide to take him down instead. They attempt to incite a revolution, but discover that they have been playing into the hands of Ruin, who has been subtly influencing both Spook and Quellion via Hemalurgic Spikes. A fire breaks out, threatening to destroy the town, but Spook removes the spikes and floods the Canals, saving the city.[2]

Importance of Urteau

Urteau is of rather large importance as it used to be situated upon the canals, which means that the family Venture, who had ownership of the city, had control over every shipment of merchandise that needed to get to other cities (particularly, Luthadel). Since ships are one of the only ways to transport heavy merchandise at a reasonable speed, through taxes and other fees, the city has quickly risen to become one of the most important ones in the area.[citation needed] However, during the events of the book, the canals are dried and is used as roads or as a place where the homeless skaas can spend the night.[citation needed]

More important even, Urteau is the location of one of the Lord Ruler's storage caches. It contains not only food, resources and equipment, but also information about new metals[clarification needed] and the upcoming danger that Ruin represented.[citation needed] It is later discovered that Lord Ruler redirected the canal's water to the city's storage cavern. This causes the canal to dry out but ensures fresh water supply for the cavern.[citation needed]

These are reasons why Elend sent Spook to the city of Urteau to gauge the political climate. (This sentence needs to change and maybe not be its own paragraph. In event summary put "Elend sent Spook to the city to gauge its political climate."

Political climate of Urteau

With the collapse of the Final Empire, the people of Urteau followed the rebellion along with many cities. A skaa named Quellion takes the power of the city, and gives himself the title The Citizen.

Urteau was the capital city of the Northern Dominance in the Final Empire.[1]

It was known for its "streetslots," dried up canals that served as streets.[2] It was the ancestral home of House Venture.[3]

After the fall of the Lord Ruler, Quellion, also known as the Citizen, seized power by invoking Kelsier's authority as Lord of the Mists.[2]

It was the location of one of the Lord Ruler's storage caverns.[2]

Unlike the other cities in the Final Empire, Urteau had a rich nightlife. This was because Quellion ruled by invoking Kelsier, who had said that the mists wouldn't hurt people and because Quellion himself preached that the mists were of Kelsier. Thus, not a lot could be done to prevent the nightlife.[4]
