“Only a man chosen by the Lord Ruler has that claim on authority. ”
—From Calling of Trust[1]
Durton is a scholar in the Final Empire on Scadrial. They are the author of Calling of Trust, which makes claims regarding divine right that the divinity of the Lord Ruler sets him up as the only one who can give another leader true authority.[1]
Aradan Yomen quoted from the book while debating the topic with Elend Venture at a ball in Fadrex City. Elend recognized the source of the quote but responded that he preferred Gallingskaw's opinions on the matter.[1]
