Tinweight Settlement is a mining town on Scadrial. The settlement is located next to a mine where metal ore can be found (likely tin, and possibly others). The mineworkers live in poor conditions, and deadly accidents at the mine are common.[1] The location of the settlement is unknown, but mining towns are typically found in the Roughs rather than inside the verdant Elendel Basin.[2]
Wayne grew up in Tinweight Settlement. His family was among the poorest in town, and they lived in a one-window house very close to the mine. Wayne's father and uncle Gregr died in mining accidents, forcing his mother to take a job in the mine. She was killed in yet another mining accident when Wayne was eleven.[1]
