The Seventeenth Shard is a mysterious organization that, along with Hoid and the Shards, is speculated to be influential in the overall Cosmere.
“ I am being chased. Your friends of the Seventeenth Shard, I suspect. I believe they're still lost, following a false trail I left for them. They'll be happier that way. I doubt they have any inkling what to do with me should they actually catch me. ”

Ishikk the Purelaker is acting as a guide and informant to three unnamed foreigners who are looking for Hoid.[2] Ishikk has nicknames for the three men: Grump, Thinker, and Blunt. These men have been confirmed to be from the Seventeenth Shard.
- Grump has the distinct linguistic pattern of Dulas from Sel, it has been confirmed by Brandon that Grump is Galladon.[3]
- Brandon has also confirmed at a signing that Thinker is Demoux from Scadrial;[4] this was first conjectured in the 17th Shard forums based on the scar on Demoux's scalp.[5]
- The third member called Blunt is Baon from Taldain, the Shardworld in which the graphic novel of White Sand, as well as its unpublished prose novel form, take place.
