“What is this?”
“Half dream.”
“Half dream?”
“You’re almost dead, kid. Smashed your spirit up pretty good. Lots of cracks. That let me in.””
Visions are a partially spiritual partially cognitive phenomena that shards and some invested individuals can induce.
Thus far Honor - via the Stormfather - Odium, Kelsier as Preservation[1], and Renarin Kholin, have been able to induce visions.
Brandon has implied that these visions may be a type of pocket dimension in the Spiritual Realm.[2]
Honor's Visions
Odium's Visions
Taravangian[3]
Moash was pulled into a vision by Odium to discuss how best to corrupt Kaladin.[4]
Notably, Odium was demonstrated to be vulnerable during his visions with Taravangian, allowing Taravangian to slay him with Nightblood. This shattered the vision, leaving a dark void, within which Taravangian was able to ascend to the Shard of Odium.[5]
Preservation's Visions
Kelsier, as Preservation, as able to pull a semi-comatose Spook into a "half dream" of how the world once was to communicate vital information to Spook about how to defeat Ruin.[1]
