Paul Tanasin

Paul Tanasin is seventeen year old from New York City.[1] He later becomes the Dark One in Mirandus.[2]
History
On Earth
Prior to the meeting with Dr Marcus, Paul moved out of home after making a deal with his mother to see the doctor in exchange for getting his own place. During an emergency session with Dr Marcus after a panic attack in a cafe, Paul is attacked by the knight, Sir Ysla, who Paul kills using a new found power. In the process of killing the knight, Paul is transported to Mirandus.[1]
On Mirandus
After arriving on Mirandus, Paul meets Feotora, who starts to lead Paul back to the Kingdoms of Light once he has convinced her that he is not a drull. They fight off a pack of Evermouths and face off against a group of drull before Feotora realises Paul is the Dark One. Surviving a fight with Feotora, the drull confirm Paul as the Dark One.[3]
One of the drull, Rastik, leads Paul to Pitch, the Black City. In the Dark Keep, Rastik leads Paul to the Well of Sorrows and encourages him to drink from it. Before this, Nikka shows Paul memories from the childhood involving the fathers death, and how they discovered Mirandus for the first time. During this visit, Nikka stepped on a mine and Paul killed and bound her soul to the necklace she was wearing before it went off. After reliving these memories, Paul drinks from the well.[2]
After drinking from the well, Rastik leads Paul to his armor and then offers himself up for Paul to draw power from. Paul kills Rastik to activate the Ironkeepers to face the army of the light that has started attacking the city. Paul enters the battle and defeats Kraisis, using his soul to raise more drull to fight for the dark. Feotora then insists on fighting Paul, but is wounded and retreats with the lights army. After the battle, Paul is drawn to a courtroom on Earth where he is taken into custody by police who believe him to have been holding Lin Yang-Tanasin and the other people in the room hostage. He is dragged from the courtroom, powerless.[4]
