Ettmetal is the name given to the god metal harmonium[1] by the Southern Peoples of Scadrial. It explodes when it gets wet, can be used to make bombs, and is burnt "with a pure whiteness" to fuel their ships and cubes.[2] When Allik Neverfar first revealed the name of the metal, it did not translate to a word known in the language of the Elendel Basin.

Ettmetal is a associated with Harmony. It appears to be a unique metal, rather than an alloy or amalgamation of atium and lerasium.

Allomantic Use

Ettmetal, when burned by an Allomancer, grants unknown abilities. Allomancy with ettmetal may be impractical or impossible because of the metal's reactivity with water.

Feruchemical Use

Ettmetal, when used by a Feruchemist, has unknown properties.

Hemalurgic Use

When used as a Hemalurgic spike, ettmetal steals some unknown trait or quality. Hemalurgy with ettmetal may be impractical or impossible because of the metals reactivity with water.

Trivia

Ettmetal appears to be modeled after the alkali metals, in the first column on the periodic table.

The metal is named as it is because Harmony does not like how 'Sazedium' sounds.[3]
