The Seventeenth Shard is a mysterious organization which, along with Hoid and the Shardholders, is speculated to be influential in the overall Cosmere.
“I am being chased. Your friends of the Seventeenth Shard, I suspect. I believe they're still lost, following a false trail I left for them. They'll be happier that way. I doubt they have any inkling what to do with me should they actually catch me. ”
Appearance in The Way of Kings
Members of the Seventeenth Shard appear in The Way of Kings, Interlude I-1: Ishikk as the foreign visitors to Purelake presumably chasing Hoid[2]. Their real names are unknown to Ishikk, the viewpoint character; however, fans have guessed the identities of two of the three visitors.
