Alanik is an emissary of the UrDail who is invited to Starsight by Cuna. While travelling to the space station, Alanik crashes on Detritus and is injured, falling into a coma. Spensa disguises herself as Alanik and goes to Starsight in her place, in order to steal a hyperdrive.
