Stillmark
Abilities Returned, Cognitive Shadow
Titles Stillmark the Noble
Nationality Hallandren
Homeworld Nalthis

Stillmark the Noble is one of the oldest Returned in Hallandren prior to the Pahn Kahl rebellion[1].

Appearance andPersonality

He is known as Stillmark the Noble, and his colors are blue and gold. He is described as a staunch traditionalist, opposing most proposals brought to the Court of Gods, and was in stark opposition to war with Idris.[1] While he is mentioned several times throughout the book, he never makes an actual appearance.

Relationships

He is influential in the court; most of the other gods consider him wise.[2]

Nanrovah is his high priest.[1] As such, Nanrovah shared his god’s opposition to war with Idris and often expressed these opinions in the political assembly on Stillmark’s behalf.[1] When Nanrovah was targeted by Denth's group who were currying support for a war against Idris, the few who still opposed war were successfully neutralized and Nanrovah seemed to become a supporter for war.[3] With little to no opposition among the priests, a main assembly was called to petition the gods to attack Idris.[3]

Speculation

Given that Stillmark was opposed to war in the first place, and had a reputation for being difficult to sway, it is unlikely that he voted to attack Idris during the main assembly. This is further supported by the fact that, thanks to Vasher, Denth no longer had control over Nanrovah when the gods were finally assembled.
