Blushweaver is a Returned from Hallandren on Nalthis.

Appearance and Personality

Blushweaver is considered the epitome of beauty. She has glossy black hair, pale skin and a lusciously curvaceous body. [3] It is suggested that all the Returned look like a kind of perfection. Though Mercystar was built heavily and Blushweaver thin, both were considered to have a godly beauty. [4] Vasher later confirms that the Returned look the way they believe they should look. Blushweaver therefore looks like what she percieves of the ultimate in honest beauty. [5]

Like most Returned, Blushweaver has become decadent due to the nature of the Court of Gods. A group of servants follows her wherever she goes, meeting her every whim, and this has made her somewhat lazy and capricious. However, despite this, she is determined to improve the fate of Hallandren and takes her role as a god seriously enough to expend great effort to control the Hallandren military in order to preserve Hallandren.[3] [6]

She directly urges Lightsong to action.[7][4] When he suggests that they just allow the universe to take its course, she tells him to "Fight it!"[8] This shows that she is not as lost as some of the other gods to boredom and indolence.

Attributes and Abilities

As a Returned Blushweaver has a Divine Breath which gives her the benefits of being on the Fifth Heightening. This includes:

  • Aura Recognition - allows her to assess the number of Breaths a person possesses.
  • Perfect Pitch
  • Perfect Color Recognition - allows her to instantly and instinctively determine exact shades of colors and their hue harmonics.
  • Perfect Life Sense - allows her to sense people around her.
  • Agelessness - makes her immune to most toxins and physical ailments, as well as making her functionally immortal.

She is a skilled negotiator and politician as demonstrated by her ability to convince other Returned to place her in control of half of the country's Lifeless military forces.[9]

History

Return

She is named Blushweaver the Honest by the Iridescent Tones, but is successful in changing it to Blushweaver the Beautiful (though still considered to be the goddess of honesty).[10] Before her return fifteen years prior to the Pahn Kahl rebellion, she was a very well known and powerful merchant in Hallandren.[3][11] She is assassinated after exposing a group of dye merchants she worked with for their untrustworthy, deceptive and criminal practices.[11]

She Returns in order to attempt to stop the invaders she sees taking T'Telir after the Pahn Kahl rebellion in her vision.[11]

During Warbreaker

When Blushweaver Returns, she is given a seat on the council of social ills, where she weekly participates in important votes.[9]

She is one of the oldest living Returned.[7]

She is very aware of the subtleties of politics and is very active in trying to defend Hallandren and their way of life. To this end she lobbies the gods who have been assigned military responsibilities and therefore hold the command phrases for the Lifeless armies. She spends her efforts on these four Returned and experiences a lot of success.

She promises to vote however Hopefinder - another Returned - wishes. In exchange, he gives her the security phrase to his portion of the Lifeless army.[9] She also manages to convince Mercystar to give up her Lifeless troops as well. Though she has a very warm relationship with Lightsong, he refuses to give her his Lifeless commands and she also fails to convince the Returned Allmother to part with her pass phrase. Still she is left in control of half of the armies of Hallandren.

Later, Blushweaver is kidnapped and forced to give up her Lifeless security phrase during the Pahn Kahl rebellion. The false priests, in truth Pahn Kahl rebels, later slit her throat to show Lightsong how willing to kill they are. This eventually wins the rebellion control over the entire Lifeless Army.[1]
