Adien is an Elantrian child from Sel

Relationships

He is the son of Daora, step-son of Kiin, younger brother to Lukel, older half-brother to Kaise and Daorn, and cousin to Sarene.[1]

Appearance and Personality

Roughly five years before Raoden heals Elantris, Adien was a thin-faced boy in his late-teens.[1] After Raoden healed Elantris, Adien gave him the exact distance to Teod so that Raoden could effectively use Aon Tia to rescue Sarene.

History

Adien was from Kae, born autistic.Template:Annotation ref Throughout his childhood, Adien moved in an awkward, stiff, uncontrolled manner. He constantly mumbled numbers (e.g. - distances to landmarks in steps)[1] and words (e.g. - "Elantris")[2] to himself. Adien had a natural way with numbers, instinctively knowing how many strides exist between any two locations.[3]

In his early teens, five years before Raoden heals Elantris, Adien was taken by the Shaod.[4] Unwilling to have him thrown into the city, his family concealed Adien's condition with makeup[5] and kept him close to home. The makeup gave Adien a pale white complexion with a strange cast to his face.[1] Because of his new condition, Adien spent much of his time sleeping.[1] With his family's help, Adien accomplished the unprecedented feat of staving off becoming Hoed for those five years.

Future Roles

Adien is the planned protagonist in the Elantris sequel.[6] It is also expected that Hrathen's Seon will be passed to Adien in the sequel.Template:Annotation ref
