Thered was an arteth in Kae prior to the arrival of Hrathen. Hrathen was impressed with Thered's service, and offered him the position of head arteth in the chapel, but he refused the position. Hrathen was shocked, thinking no Derethi priest would refuse a position of such power, and demanded to know why Thered refused. Thered offered no explanation.
