Sergeant Graves is a nosy police officer who may have investigated Liza after the body of Panos Maheras went missing. Stephen Leeds deduced this and mentioned it to Liza, helping to convince her to let him investigate the body's disappearance. Liza does not want to deal with the hassle of dealing with Graves, and accordingly lets Stephen investigate.[1]
