Appearance

Nightmaws are enormous bird-like predators from Patji. One Nightmaw is described as being "as tall as a tree if it had stood upright." Nightmaws have two clawed forelegs and powerful back legs that bear most of their weight. Their beaks are razor sharp and as tall as a door. They screech when they detect prey.

Ability

Their cognitive parasite gives them the ability to detect and track cognitive activity in other animals, allowing them to find prey. Their skin is difficult to pierce with any weapon, although Dusk's machete does cut one nightmaw in the head. They can be killed with guns.
