Citations[edit]

Hi Nightstar, I'm reaching out to you on behalf of the Keeper team here. Thank you for all of your recent contributions that have added a lot of details! The content looks good. I'd like to make a request, though.

We hold the Coppermind to an extremely high standard by requiring all information added to be cited by denoting the book and chapter in which the information can be found. The process for this is given an overview on this help page (feel free to look around at all of our help pages we have up). If you're new to wiki editing, looking at examples of how others have cited sources on the pages you're editing is a good trick to help you get it formatted correctly. Roughly, it looks like {{book ref|book code (an abbreviation)|chapter number}}. If you are able to start adding citations to your edits, that would be greatly appreciated, and it would reduce the workload on other editors who will otherwise have to find the information again for themselves to be able to cite it for you.

Thanks again, and happy editing! - Truthwatch3r (talk) 21:00, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

User Page Edits[edit]

Hi Nightstar! Thank you for all the hard work you've been putting in recently. One small thing I wanted to make you aware of: If you didn't know, the Keepers patrol every edit made on the wiki, making sure it's accurate and has proper grammar, etc. We can just mark user page edits as patrolled without looking through them, since they're not main wiki pages, but we still have to manually go through and mark each individual edit as patrolled. It's your user page and you're free to do as you please with it, but it would save us a bit of work if you could condense your edits somewhat. (Using the "show preview" button is handy for this). Not a big deal, it's just something that would be slightly more convenient for the Keeper team. :) Thanks again! Taln Fan (talk) 18:05, 4 December 2023 (UTC)

Good day Taln Fan. I can definitely try to condense my edits, but I’m currently working on some warbreaker pages/information on my user page and I also use the online warbreaker book. This means that I constantly have to switch between the book and the coppermind. While this isn’t a direct problem, if I don’t finish my edits before I switch, the words disappear. I can definitely try to condense them a little more, but it will only go so far. Thanks for understanding. Nightstar The Bright Nightstar The Bright (talk) 19:20, 4 December 2023 (UTC)

T'Telir and Hallandren[edit]

I was finally getting around to looking at your forum post about Hallandren's history (it sounds like a great solution to summarize the bit about Hanald and make sure it links over there), but while I was looking around at the relevant pages I had a couple of other comments that weren't really relevant to that post, so I'll put them here. Overall this doesn't look like it's a huge deal for the pages as they are now, but one of the things I'm noticing as I look at T'Telir is that it can be a bit difficult to distinguish what is more appropriate for the T'Telir page and what is more appropriate for Hallandren's page. For instance, it's a great detail that you picked up on about Fob having his lands seized by the state in war time in Hallandren, but that feels more appropriate for a politics or economics section on Hallandren, and doesn't really warrant a mention in the geography section on T'Telir, which should be more about the city specifically. Some overlap of information is fine and even at times necessary, but if we can make some distinctions, it will help the pages be more unique and give readers less of a feeling like they've read it before. I've edited the geography sections on both pages to reflect what I think the distinctions there could be (and moved the bit about the farms in war time), but please don't take that like I'm taking over your overhauling project - you're doing a good job, and if you disagree with the changes I've made, they're easy enough to undo.

One other small comment is that if all of your references for one sentence come from the same chapter, then a single reference at the end of the sentence is sufficient. Similarly, if multiple sentences in a paragraph all reference the same chapter, a single reference at the end of that group of sentences is enough. Again, thank you! It seems like you've caught the editing bug, and I hope you keep it up :) - Truthwatch3r (talk) 18:19, 8 December 2023 (UTC)

Yes, the pages T’Telir and Hallandren are quite similar, this is mostly because almost the entirety of warbreaker plays in T’Telir, and nowhere else in Hallandren. Due to this we have to kind of guess what’s a T’telirite thing and what is a Hallandren thing (especially in the Culture sections)

I don’t actually remember why I put Fob’s lands/farms in the Geography section, it might have been the lack of a better place or something else entirely, now that I think of it you’re right, it feels more appropriate in politics or economics, thanks for editing that. I’ll keep in mind that the same references are needed only once per sentence or sentences, I’m still quite new to this, having started only a month ago. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions/suggestions/criticism on my edits. - Nightstar The Bright Nightstar The Bright (talk) 09:06, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
