Truth-Is-Waiting, also called Truth, serves as a staff sergeant in the Night Brigade under the command of the Admiral.[2]
Appearance and Personality
He typically walks with military discipline but can readily disguise his background by altering his mannerisms.[2]
Truth-Is-Waiting displays a coldness and flagrant disregard of the suffering of others. Though he seems to consider it wrong to bring destruction upon the people of Canticle simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, especially given their shared Threnodite heritage, it is not a strongly held belief. However, he finds the prospect of interrogating the more technologically advanced Scadrians particularly pleasurable.[2]
History
Truth-Is-Waiting arrives in the Canticle system flying in low orbit on the Night Brigade's warship.[1] He, along with the Admiral and several other members of the Night Brigade --including at least two shades-- descend onto the planet to gather information about Nomad's whereabouts.[2]
At their first encountered settlement, Truth-Is-Waiting commandeers a ship and uses it to pose as a person from a town in another corridor who has come seeking explanations.[2]
Approximately one day after Nomad Skips off the planet, Truth-Is-Waiting confers with the people of one of the planet's floating cities (likely Union) and learns from them of Nomad's apparent death in a fight with the Cinder King and of the Scadrian research facility stationed below the planet's surface.[2]
Truth-Is-Waiting returns to the stolen ship, walking with a slouch so as to not draw undue attention from his usual military discipline, and reports what he learned to the Admiral.[2]
Relationships
Admiral
Truth-Is-Waiting serves under the Admiral of the Night Brigade and reports to her directly. He has insight into the kinds of information that she might find particularly pleasing or frustrating and is at least a little bit fearful of her anger.[2]
