The Steel Ministry was one of the Lord Ruler's governmental organizations, made up of those known to to practice the art of Hemalurgy.

Canton

The cantons were subsections of the Steel Ministry.

There were four canonical cantons: the Canton of Orthodoxy, the Canton of Finance, the Canton of Resource, and the Canton of Inquisition.

Canton of Orthodoxy

The Canton of Orthodoxy had organizational dominance over the other three cantons. They were the bureaucratic arm of the Steel Ministry. The nobility at court used obligators to witness a myriad of things, even something as simple as promise to come to a game of shelldry. As the an authority in bureaucratic matters, any mercantile contracts, divorces, weddings, land purchases, inheritances and any other important dealings could only be authorised by the Canton of Orthodoxy. There is a long standing rivalry between the Canton of Orthodoxy and Inquisition, for the Canton of Inquisition believed that they should have dominance over the other Cantons. They are eventually given the dominance when they capture Vin and prove that she is the Lord Prelan's half-breed daughter. Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; refs with no name must have content

Canton of Finance

The Ministry of Finance is in charged of the financial operations of the Final Empire. Their work includes the transport of funds.

The Ministry's Canton of Finance is described as an imposing building. It is tall and blocky with a massive rose window in the front, with two red banners hanging down beside the window, proclaiming praises to the Lord Ruler. When one enters the building, one will find a desk at the end of an extended entryway, with an obligator manning the desk. Decorations within the building are generally sparse and lacking. It is often described as austere, bearing only the most necessary furniture and simple grey carpeting, the walls also lacking adornments . An exception to that rule is the waiting room. Notable Members

High Prelan Arriev: An extremely high ranking obligator within the Canton of Finance, with tattoo's extended all the way back to the his ears and up over his forehead. Prelan Laird: Relatively high ranking obligator. Originally dealt with Camon's crew. Vin used emotional Allomancy on him and so was first found out. Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; refs with no name must have content

Canton of Resource

Canton of Inquisition

The Canton of Inquisition was tasked with the organisation of Steel Inquisitors, and acted as law enforcement, especially over the magical elements of society. In addition to dealing with anyone that went against Ministry protocol, the Canton of Inquisition also had bases all around the city, called Soothing stations. These were to dampen the emotions of everyone is the area, calming and depressing them. In addition to that it is possible that many Inquisitors found skaa Mistings this way. By revealing that Vin was the daughter of the Lord Prelan Tevidian, the Canton of Inquisition gained dominance over the other Cantons, shortly before the death of the Lord Ruler. Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; refs with no name must have content


Noteable Members

Marsh: Infiltrated the Canton of Inquisition to aid the Skaa Rebellion and was eventually turned into a Steel Inquisitor. Brother of Kelsier and former leader of the Skaa Rebellion.

Kar: The Steel Inquisitor that lead the charge against Tevidian.
