I have many times asked myself why those of you here go about so brazenly with features exposed to all who would see them.

—Iyatil[2]

Iyatil is a member of the Ghostbloods, a secret organization on Roshar. She purports to be Mraize's master, instead of the other way around, and is thus presumably a high-ranking member of the organization.[2][3] Though she currently lives on Roshar, she is originally from Silverlight.[4] She has Southern Scadrian ancestry,[5] and the mask she wears is similar to those worn by the Hunters nation.[6]

Appearance and Personality

Usually dressed in a simple trousers and shirt, Shallan mistakes her for a male the first time seeing her.[7] She wears a red-orange carapace mask, which is growing into her skin, and has dark eyes.[8] This mask is not Invested.[9]

Abilities and Attributes

Not much is known about Iyatil's abilities. She is confident that she can escape from an Alethi facility without assistance.[3] After she attempts to assassinate Amaram, she is described as moving "too quickly" to be chased.[10] She has also been confirmed to be a worldhopper, supervising Mraize.[11]

History

Roshar is not Iyatil's home planet; she is of Southern Scadrian heritage,[5] though she comes from Silverlight rather than from Scadrial.[4][12] At some point she was a member of the Seventeenth Shard.[1]

By 1173, Iyatil was a high-ranking member of the Ghostbloods and lived on Roshar. She was present at Shallan's first meeting with the Ghostbloods and followed Shallan after the meeting, trying to track her back to Tyn.[7] She later accompanied Shallan on a mission for the Ghostbloods, investigating the recent arrival of Talenel to the Alethi warcamps.[2] After the Battle of Narak, she attempted to assassinate Highlord Amaram with a blowgun. Her attempt was foiled by Talenel, but she managed to escape.

She was interested in speaking to Shalash. Her associate Mraize was charged with trying to contact her.[13]

Relationships

Mraize
Iyatil is Mraize's master or babsk.[14] They appear to have a particularly close relationship.[2] At one point, Iyatil had Mraize followed, seemingly a tradition within the Ghostbloods.[15]
Thaidakar
Iyatil's master.[16]
