Vin's mother (actual name unknown) was a skaa prostitute in Luthadel. She used Vin's sister to Hemalurgically charge a bronze spike. She then spiked Vin with this bronze 'earring', which later gave her the power to pierce copperclouds.
She was under the influence of Ruin.[citation needed]
