Hi there! I'm Stargazer, one of the Coppermind's staff and administrators. If you have a general question about the Coppermind, I would recommend using one of the methods listed on Help:Discussion. If you'd like to get in contact with me specifically, you can:

  1. Ping me in our Coppermind editors Discord server, or send me a direct message on Discord
  2. Click "Add topic" above (or that link) and leave a message for me here; if you do, I'll reply here so as to keep all the messages together
  3. Tag me in a post on the 17th Shard forums (note that I'm Starwatcher there) or send me a direct message on the 17th Shard

I'm usually in EST (or EDT between March and November due to daylight savings), but my sleep schedule's a bit of a mess so you might get responses at odd hours.

Message[edit]

Just to let you know, on my talk page, I am adding my new signature to my previous comments that haven't been updated. --Auri (Express yourself, be heard!) 09:02, 21 February 2020 (UTC)

I have the right to correct others' grammar on my talk page. I don't want it to be messy. I understand that I will not do it elsewhere, but in this case, it is my talk page we are talking about. I am not changing their edits, I am just fixing their mistakes. Express yourself, be heard! Plus, on my talk page, I am adding my new signature to my previous comments that hasn't been updated.

Sorry, but our position is that other people have the right to leave respectful comments on your page in the manner they see fit, even if it's not grammatically correct; the record of what was actually said should be preserved. Adding your new signature is fine though.

Steel Inquisitor spikes[edit]

I posted a question at Talk:Steel Inquisitor that is related to an edit you made. If you have any additional information, please add it. - Ebmid2 (talk) 00:59, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

Mercy and Ambition[edit]

As a result of the edits to the Mercy article that came to the conclusion that Mercy was more likely there at the Splintering of Ambition, I changed the Ambition page to match. The Ambition page was throwing me off a bit, thanks for the clarification.

Question Regarding Edits[edit]

Hello!

I recently made a small edit to Hoid's page involving adding known titles to the page. I saw that it was removed so I was just wondering if something like that is particularly problematic for the community?

I appreciate it!

Hey, KevinNum30! So, I certainly wouldn't expect most people to know this, but one of the things we've been a little discontent about for a little while now is how long infoboxes can get on some pages. For Hoid specifically, we've kind of kept the aliases row to Wit (probably the most frequently-used one), Cephandrius (one of the oldest ones), and then a link to the Known Aliases section on the page, which lists all others. Adding a separate row of titles (and especially essentially having Wit as both an alias and a title) didn't feel quite right to me in light of that, so I merged the titles that had been missing to the list of known aliases. So, in short, no, I definitely wouldn't call anything you've done particularly problematic, I just thought it would be better placed elsewhere on the page; if you can think of any other titles or aliases that are missing, certainly go ahead and add them to that list. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions and happy editing!
(Aside, for future reference, you can sign talk page comments like this by using four tildes like ~~~~; it just kind of helps keep conversations clear)

Unimporting WoB[edit]

Hey Stargazer,

I am just writing to inquire if there is a way to unimport/delete/revert imported wob's so they go back to the old format with a red link below them. I am wondering as a great deal of wob's that were solely linked to my draft space were imported and I was keeping them unimported purposefully for the sake of organisation.--Debarra (talk) 17:19, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

Hi Debarra! Yeah, I think that's reasonable and also conveniently eliminates the need to patrol 231 new pages. Done. --Stargazer (talk) 17:54, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
Many thanks!--Debarra (talk) 18:01, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

Suggested Edit to Atium[edit]

Hi there,

I believe a small edit is warranted on the Atium page and I guess I'm asking you to make it since the page is protected :) The page currently contradicts itself within two sentences: "Atium cannot be combined with lerasium to make ettmetal, nor can ettmetal be broken down into atium and lerasium. While it would not be possible to get atium and lerasium from ettmetal through distillation or other mundane methods, it is possible through other methods." The section I've bolded is incorrect given recent events in certain recent books ;) & the sentence that follows it provides a more accurate description. Thanks for your help editing accordingly; sorry to have to ask! Knives182 (talk) 04:19, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

Hi Knives182! That's a good catch; I've updated the page accordingly! --Stargazer (talk) 04:38, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

Placement of information of Ghostbloods[edit]

I am personally of the strong belief that they should be placed before the True Desolation section, due to the fact that the Ghostbloods had a major cosmere-wide role *before* there fight against the Set, and were involved in the True Desolation. I feel it is weird to mention their formation as an afterthought in a section after they played a role, and I don't see any reason to do it like that. It just makes no sense chronologically, or in terms of formatting. It would be sort of like waiting till the Trell section to mention Sazed became Harmony, it is just, really out-of-order. It is why I repeatedly placed it in the Catacendre section, because it is the important cosmere event that happens after the Catacendre but long before the True Desolation, and I am just curious why you keep moving it. Firesong (talk) 23:44, 4 Feburary 2023 (UTC)

So, I have a couple thoughts on the subject. One is that I don't think the founding of a worldhopping group is, by itself, likely to be so significant as to merit mentioning in the History section of the cosmere page—for example, we don't mention the existence of the Ire, say, around the paragraph on the Splintering of Devotion and Dominion, even though they are later relevant in the Ascension of Harmony subsection. The fact that the creation of the Ghostbloods helped bring Autonomy's influence to Scadrial, however, adds a little more relevance and also pretty strongly counsels in favor of placing that mention of their creation together with the information about Trell. Another consideration is that, while the Ghostbloods are active on Roshar during the True Desolation, they haven't done anything significant enough to merit mentioning in the True Desolation subsection, so there's no real need for them to be established for that section. Beyond that, it also keeps the Ascension of Harmony/the end of Era 1 as the cutoff for the subsection titled, well, "The Ascension of Harmony." As long as we're grouping events by world/series (and I think that's the best way to organize the section, at least until we get to events in the space age), there's probably always going to be some fuzziness around chronology in the History section.
