Shortly after King Gavilar's assassination, Avado noticed Szeth standing by the side of the road, and inquired about the Shin man. Szeth was then forced to give the Oathstone to Avado. Avado and Szeth left Alethkar for Jah Keved because Avado feared possible Alethi retributions against foreigners in the wake of Gavilar's death.
