Malise Gevelmar on her husband[2]

Lin Davar is a lighteyed Veden on Roshar.

He was first married to Shallan's mother. Together, the two of them had Helaran, Balat, Wikim, Jushu, and Shallan. When Shallan was eleven, he walked into his wife and her friend trying to kill Shallan for being a surgebinder. He managed to cut the friend, but eventually got pinned down as Shallan used her shardblade to kill both her mother and her mother's friend. Lin let everyone believe he'd killed his wife in order to protect Shallan, but the secret drove him to becoming violent and volatile.[3]

From notes and maps found after his death and from letters he was receiving Balat surmised that his father was making a play for the title of high prince, and was supported by some powerful men, namely the Ghostbloods.[4]

After her death he remarried to Malise Gevelmar. He beat her, his sons, an the servants in the house. The only person he never touched was Shallan, instead beating others in her name when he felt she deserved it.[5] This culminated in his murder of Malise when he learned of her plan to run away. He would've likely killed Balat and Eylita as well, but Shallan poisoned him with blackbane and then strangled him before he could.[6]

After his death, his children found he owned a soulcaster and a collection of maps which they could not understand.[7]

He was somehow influenced by Odium.[8]
