Mara is Lirin's apprentice in Hearthstone.
When Kaladin returns to Hearthstone after the first Everstorm, Mara has been an apprentice surgeon for a few years.
Lirin implies that they are not yet ready to be a full surgeon, questioning whether Mara would be able to take over for him if he left.[1]
