He thinks he is crazy because of the psychotic voice in his head, not knowing about his connection to Ruin. When she decided to remain with Elend, he attacks with deadly force shouting she was supposed to help him regain his sanity. He attempted to persuade Vin to elope with him, and reacted violently when she rejected him.
